At HOPE International we believe that work is God’s primary plan for provision. We’ve found that most who live in poverty are eager to generate income and employ their God-given skills to add value to their communities. Unemployment robs individuals of that opportunity, but Christ-centered microenterprise development restores it by helping men and women create jobs for themselves and others in their community. HOPE International’s network provides a variety of services and resources across 16 countries to address the pervasive employment gap faced by the world’s poor.
Contributions to HOPE International through A.I.M. Adventure Race last year impacted the
lives of clients such as Clotilde Nikoyavuze of Burundi. Married for 20 years, Clotilde and her husband have six children and recently adopted a seventh. She says she hopes each of her children will complete school. Clotilde
runs a plumbing and hardware stall called MamaBeby. Since receiving her first
loan from HOPE's local partner, Turame, Clotilde's monthly profits have doubled.
She says, “The loans have improved day-to-day life. We feel like we are no longer in poverty.”
The York Food Bank: Devoted to ending Hunger in York County It’s a sad fact that every day people in our community go hungry. Hunger has spread in York County and we are now fighting hunger not only in our cities but in our suburbs and our rural areas as well. The face of hunger has changed and it’s now affecting your friends, your family, and your neighbors. We need you to join together with us to “Stick it to Hunger.”
The York County Food Bank is a central serving hub that collects food from a variety of sources and then equitably redistributes this food to our 125 plus agencies or organizations. These organizations include other 501 C-3 non-profit groups, shelters, churches, senior centers, schools and various community centers.
Thanks to the generosity of corporate, organization, individual donors, and government programs we currently provide over TWO MILLION pounds of food and household items annually! The food donations that we receive come from a variety of sources. A large portion of the food that we receive is generated from food drives or fundraisers that are conducted by individuals, organizations and corporations. We are also fortunate to receive donations from various food manufacturers, retails, wholesales and distributors.

The York Rescue Mission began in 1962 with the objective to offer food, clothing, shelter and spiritual guidance for the poor and needy of York County. We have continued to develope this vision for over 50 years!
Our goal is Service above Self and to be Christ-like; inviting men, women and children to accept the Savior whom God sent into the world (John 3:16). We meet the basic human needs of the many we serve, as well as equip, train, nurture and guide them toward a better quality of life.
Poverty and despair are at an all time high in our community! In 2011 we served 197, 531 total meals and provided overnight shelter for 7,048 needy men, women and children. The YRM is committed to being an important part of the solution.
Please browse our site, http://www.yorkrescuemission.org/, to learn more about us and the many different ministries that we offer. We pray that you will consider becoming a part of this vital outreach.
